As music journalism in Aotearoa dies, Bin Juice is the bottom-of-the-barrel fodder that tries to make a difference.

Bin Juice is the brainchild of Alex de Vries (adv), a local musician who loves going to gigs, listening to local bangers, and getting to know the ins and outs of the New Zealand music scene.

Launched in New Zealand Music Month 2024, Bin Juice is a platform for young, new and emerging artists who would otherwise fly under the radar in an industry that is so hostile to fresh faces and fresh sounds.

There’s no guiding philosophy to this work other than celebrating local talent and keeping up the tradition of music criticism while the media falls apart around us.
